Mobile phone worth Rs 1 lakh stolen from shop in Wayanad
Wayanad: Burglary in three shops were reported in the wee hours of Thursday here. Mobile worth Rs 1 lakh and money were stolen from 2 mobile shops.
The robbery was reported at Panamaram 5th mile, Anchukunnu Doctor padi and Vakeri CC. Alif Mobiles at 5th mile in Panamaram and Vava Stores at Anchukunnu Doctor Padi were burgled.
4 second-hand phones, one tablet and Rs 500 were found stolen from Alif Mobiles. K Ismail, the shop owner stated that his shop incurred a loss of Rs 25,000.
Though the thief had broken into the shop at Doctor Padi, nothing was found stolen from here. Panamaram police and fingerprint experts rushed to the spot and collected evidence.
Meanwhile, G Seven, another mobile shop at Vakeri CC was also burgled. 18 mobile phones received for service and 9 second-hand phones were stolen from here.
Police suspect that a three-member-team is behind the burglary. CCTV visuals of the nearest shop featured three men who arrived at the spot. The thieves twisted the centre portion of the shutter to break into the shop.
The team arrived on a car around 12 am on Wednesday and burgled G seven mobiles at Vakeri CC.
The shop owner Hakeem closed the shop at 8.45 pm. A man who runs a tea stall found the mobile shop open when he arrived next day morning.
Meenangadi police registered a case and started probe. The forensic team also visited the spot to recover evidence.
