Missing bank manager found dead in Vamanapuram river
Thiruvananthapuram: The body of a bank manager who went missing has been found from near Ayanikuzhi in Vamanapuram river. The deceased was identified as Shemi, a native of Pullampara. She was the branch manager of Canara Bank in Nachipalayam in Coimbatore.
She went missing on Tuesday by 3.30 am. The family reported to the police and the body was found in the river on Wednesday morning. Police and the fire force lifted the body from the river.
Shemi was living in Thiruvananthapuram. She came to her ancestral home in Koonanvenga for a surgery last week. Post the surgery, she was experiencing severe stress and anxiety, the police said. She had communicated with her family regarding work pressure.
Her family was trying to get a transfer from Tamil Nadu to Thiruvananthapuram for her. Her mobile phone was kept at home. Police started the investigation on Tuesday itself with the help of sniffer dog.
A police dog named Jerry had reached the stream, which is a tributary of the Vamanapuram river, half a kilometre from his house. Her husband is Saleem, an employee of Peroorkada Canara Bank. Akbar Saleem is their only son. The last rites will be held on Thursday afternoon at Snehapuram Kizhakkekuzhi Masjid Cemetery.
