Merin Joy murder: Prosecution to demand death for husband
Washington: The prosecution will demand capital punishment for Philip Mathew, accused in Merin Joy murder case, reported SunSentinel, based on the documents submitted at the court.
Merin Joy, a native of Monippally in Kottayam and a nurse working at a US hospital, was killed allegedly by her husband Philip Mathew near her workplace at Coral Springs in South Florida on July 28. Merin was stabbed multiple times by Philip, a native of Veliyanad following family dispute.
The letter submitted by State Attorney Michael Satz termed the murder as planned and heinous.
If the grand jury indicts Mathew for first-degree murder, the prosecution will seek death penalty, the documents showed.
