Man who stole KSRTC bus from Kottarakkara arrested
Kollam: Police arrested the accused who stole a KSRTC bus from Kottarakkara depot and abandoned it at Parippally. The accused was identified as Sreekaryam native Nidhin aka Tipper Ani.
He was taken into custody from Palakkad. Nidhin who has been booked in many vehicle theft cases was working at a service station in Palakkad. In his statement to police, Nidhin revealed that he stole the bus to go home at midnight.
The KSRTC bus at Kottarakkara depot was found stolen on February 8. The accused took away the bus which was parked near the depot at midnight. Following the investigation, police found the bus abandoned at Parippally a few hours after it was reported missing.
Later, the police initiated a probe to trace the person who stole the bus. As per the CCTV visuals, it was clear that a young man had driven the bus away from the depot. But the police didn’t receive any other clue regarding the accused. Following this, a police team led by Kollam rural SP initiated a probe with the help of Cyber Cell.
During the investigation, police identified Nidhin’s presence at Kottarakkara on the day of the bus theft. His mobile tower location also confirmed that he travelled on the same route by which the bus was taken away. Following this, police nabbed Nidhin from the service station at Palakkad.
