Man who raped, killed school girl gets bail due to prosecution's foul play
Kochi: The accused who raped and murdered a school girl at Valparai has been granted bail due to the foul play of prosecution. The high court granted bail to Safar Shah, the accused in the case, after the defense counsel misled the court that charge sheet was not submitted in the case, in order to get bail.
The prosecution also engaged in a foul play to help the accused get bail. When the defense informed the court that charge sheet was not submitted, the prosecution also agreed to this statement.
Following this, the court criticized the investigative officers for delaying the submission of charge sheet and called it a serious offence. But in fact, the investigative officers had submitted the charge sheet in the trial court within 90 days of the case.
Safar Shah was arrested on January 8 for kidnapping, raping and murdering the school girl. The probe team submitted the charge sheet before April 8 when the case would complete 90 days.
However, when the defense counsel concealed this fact from the court, the prosecution supported them. Meanwhile, the police decided to file a plea in the court requesting to cancel the bail of the accused. They have started procedures for the same.
Safar Shah kidnapped the minor girl hailing from Ernakulam and murdered after raping her. Later, he abandoned the body at Valparai in Tamil Nadu border. The incident took place on January 7, 2020 and the police arrested the accused on January 8 itself.
