Man takes ride in new car violating lockdown norms; police nabs after chasing
Taliparamba (Kannur): A man was nabbed by the police after he went for a ride in his new car ignoring the lockdown norms. The man identified as Alambadi native T H Riyaz (38) started his ride from Kasaragod and was nabbed at Maloor.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon. Riyaz was upset for not being able to drive his new car and went on a journey without following the lockdown norms. As the registration process was not complete, the car also had no number plate.
When the police tried to stop the car seeing its overspeed, Riyaz drove away. The police also asked him to stop the car at Taliparamba state highway, but he went to Alakkod area and then to Pariyaram and moved to Sreekandapuram.
Meanwhile, the information was passed from Taliparamba to other stations and police chased Riyaz in another vehicle. The police could not stop him at Sreekandapuram and Iritty also. Finally, they had to block him by parking another vehicle across the road. The police had to take him into custody forcefully.
Meanwhile, some people arrived at the place and damaged the car. Riyaz was later released after charging a case against him for not stopping vehicle even after police asked. The car is in the custody of Taliparamba police station. The police said that there are many cases in his name.
