Man posing as senior government official arrested for job fraud
Thiruvananthapuram: A man, who cheated lakhs of rupees from several people by posing as a senior official offering lucrative jobs in various government departments, was nabbed by police on Saturday evening. The fraudster was identified as Joy Thomas, a native of Nalamchira.
Joy cheated people by pretending to be a senior government official including central excise commissioner, senior police official and Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) and promising lucrative jobs in the respective departments.
Police raided Thomas’s house and seized forged documnets, identity cards, name tags, uniforms and law books. Joy had been booked in cheating cases earlier as well.
Joy had kept a framed photo of himself on the front wall of his house. This helped to make the job seekers who paid him money appear as if he was dead and prevented them from filing a complaint. Using this trick, Joy evaded being caught and convicted.
The Mannanthala police initiated a detailed investigation and nabbed Joy after receiving numerous complaints against him.
