Man disguised as temple priest sexually abuses minor girl in Kilimanoor; arrested
Kilimanoor (Thiruvananthapuram): A man who disguised himself as a temple priest and sexually abused a 11-year-old girl was nabbed by the police here. The person was identified as Kollam Alappad native Shan (37). He abused the child with the knowledge of her mother, the police said.
The incident took place in 2018 when he was working as the priest under fake name in a temple in Kilimanoor. Shan got acquainted with a woman in the neighbourhood and started visiting her on a regular basis. Meanwhile, he also sexually abused the girl with the permission of the woman.
Shan and the woman also threatened the girl that they would kill her if she told anyone about the incident. Later, the girl informed about the incident to her father and filed a complaint with the police. Shan was taken into custody from Kothamangalam.
Shan has been working as priest in temples under the name Shyam. He also made some fake documents in the name of a famous Namboothiri family in Edakulangara and misled people. He used to start relationship with women in the places he goes and later escapes after abusing them.
The police also seized many SIM cards and fake documents from Shan. He was arrested by a team of police officers headed by Kilimanoor station officer K B Manoj Kumar. Shan was later remanded by Attingal court.
