Man beaten up for questioning attempt to insult daughter: Complainant girl alleges police inaction
Mananthavady (Wayanad): In connection with the incident in which few girls were insulted while they were bathing in the river and the father of one of them was beaten up for questioning it, the complainant girl alleged that police did not take the complaint seriously.
The girl also alleged that even after they explained the incident in detail, the police tried to weaken the case. The police officers continued a negligent attitude when she went to file the complaint at the station on Saturday and when police came to their house to record her statement, the girl said.
She stated that they approached the Women's Commission as no action was taken even after she lodged the complaint and gave a statement. The girl's father also said that there were attempts to make political interventions in the case in order to protect the culprits and thereby sabotage the case.
Meanwhile, Youth Congress district president Samshad Marakkar said that they will organise protests in three constituencies on Wednesday in connection with the incident. They alleged that the police did not arrest the culprits as local leaders of CPM and the office of a people's representative in Mananthavady intervened to settle the case.
Congress Edavaka constituency committee also demanded that the culprits should be arrested as soon as possible. They alleged that the culprits are trying to sabotage the case using political influence.
