Man arrested during bid to smuggle gold worth Rs 50 lakh by tying it on legs
Kondotty (Malappuram): A man was arrested at Karipur International Airport with gold worth Rs 50 lakh tied onto his legs.
Air Customs Intelligence Wing seized the smuggled gold from Kannur native Shahjaz. The man arrived by Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi on Saturday morning.
The gold mixture was wrapped in a plastic cover and tied around both legs below the knees. The gold mixture weighed about 1.710 kg and is worth Rs 50 lakh in the market.
The gold was seized by Deputy Commissioner Nidhin Lal, Assistant Commissioner D. N. Pant, Gokul Das, Bimal Das, Isaac Varghese, Abhinav, Vijil, Rahees, Shilpa, Ramendar and Francis.
