Malappuram Police arrestes one with hawala money worth Rs 16 lakh
Tirur: Police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly possessing hawala money worth Rs 16 Lakh rupees. Kazim, a native of Tirurangadi was apprehended by the police when he reached Tanur on the Coimbatore-Kannur Express train.
It is reported that he was hiding hawala money including Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 currencies around his body like a belt. According to police, he had previously brought the money from Coimbatore several times and distributed it in the area.
Meanwhile, he managed to evade the police radar by changing mobile phone numbers and switching off the phone. Earlier also, he was arrested in similar cases.
A team lead by Tanur DySP Moosa Vallikadan along with Tanur CI KJ Jinesh, Sub Inspectors Sreejith, Haridas, CPOs Salesh, Vipin, Jinesh, Zubair, Sajan and DANSAF Squad arrested Kazim as per the directions of Malappuram district police chief Sujith Das.
