Malappuram native held for robbing train passenger
Kozhikode: Police arrested a Keralite youth for robbing a train passenger on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Express. The arrested Sudharsan, 25, hails from Malappuram and was arrested by the Railway Protection Force.
The robbery took place on Saturday early morning between Thottipalayam and Perunthurai station in Tamil Nadu. The victim was a native of Coimbatore and was travelling in the coach reserved for differently abled. After attacking the woman and stealing her belongings, the thief pulled the emergency chain and made good his escape. The passenger was injured on her head in the attack.
She lost six-and-half-sovereign chain, mobile phone, hand bag, 2 gold coins and Rs 5000 cash. After arresting the culprit, police recovered all the stolen articles besides other items that was robbed by him. RPF SI Periaswami led team with 26 members that nabbed the attacker from a sugarcane plantation.
