Main accused in CPI (M) branch secretary murder case in Thrissur arrested
Thrissur: The main accused in the CPI (M) branch secretary murder case at Pannithadam here has been arrested.
The police team arrested Nandan (48) of Chittilangad around noon on Tuesday. Earlier, the police had raided his wife’s house in Porkulam among others. The officials also seized his passport and other documents.
Police had registered a case against three persons including Nandan for stabbing to death CPI (M) Puthusserry branch secretary P. U. Sanoop on Sunday.
While CPI (M) leaders alleged that the accused were BJP-RSS activists, BJP leaders responded that the accused had no links with the BJP or RSS.
According to police, an attack which took place during an effort to solve a dispute between two groups resulted in the murder of Sanoop. Chittilangad natives Sajeesh and Abhayjith are the other accused in the case.
Three of Sanoop’s friends, who were injured in the attack, are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
