Long wait ends; police get a small part of gold anklet swallowed by thief in TVM
Thiruvananthapuram: After waiting for the stolen gold anklet to come out of the thief’s excreta, the police could finally collect a portion of the ornament from the excreta. As the evidence was received, police shifted the thief to district prison.
The incident that is similar to the movie ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ took place at Thampanoor police station and medical college. Though the necklace was received without damage in the movie, only a portion of the anklet could be found in real life. The hospital authorities and the police assume that the other portion might have lost through excretion on the first day of swallowing the anklet.
The film-like theft took place on Friday. Poonthura Pallitheruv native Muhammed Shafeeq (42) stole the 4.5-gram gold anklet of 3-year-old daughter of Ajikumar and Mini. They were travelling to their native place in Palakkad and was waiting for bus at Thampanoor bus stand. As the parents and others saw Shafeeq stealing the anklet, he swallowed the ornament.
He did not admit the crime even after police questioned him. Following this, they decided to take an x-ray. With this, they could see that the anklet was trapped in his stomach. The accused was arrested and later shifted to medical college.
