Lockdown violation: CPM leaders threaten police officers for seizing bike
Idukki: A group of CPM leaders threatened several police officers including the Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) at Vandiperiyar station.
The party workers led by CPM Idukki district secretariat member and Peerumedu area secretary arrived at the station to get back the bike of a DYFI worker which was taken into police custody for violating lockdown regulations.
Over 20 vehicles were taken into custody on Wednesday evening for violating lockdown norms. One of these vehicles was owned by a DYFI worker. The CPM workers including CPM Idukki district secretariat member R Thilakan and Peerumedu area secretary Vijayanand arrived at the Vandiperiyar police station demanding to return this bike.
The party workers threatened four police officers including ASI Thomas. The party leaders shouted at the ASI and threatened him that if he did not do his job decently, they would trespass into his house to give an apt reply.
The police imposed only minor charges against them for using abusive language against police officers at the station premises, and this has caused dissatisfaction within the police force.
