Kozhikode man arrested for illegal possession of foreign currency worth Rs 34.7 lakh
Kochi: RPF personnel nabbed a youth for possessing foreign currency valued at Rs 34.7 lakh. M A Ebin, 24, from Kozhikode was nabbed on Saturday morning from Angamali railway station when the Kannur-Alappuzha Express arrived. Saudi riyal worth 34.7 lakh was found in Ebin’s bag without any valid documents.
RPF officials revealed that Ebin told them he had come to hand over the money to a concern near the Nedumbassery airport. The culprit has been handed over to the customs for further investigation.
RPF assistant commissioner T S Gopakumar, RPF Ernakulam assistant sub inspector P S Surendran, head constable Saji Augustine, Suresh Ebraham, Madhu and constable T G Srinivas were present in the team when the currency was seized.
