Kottiyam suicide: Prosecution opposes Lakshmi Pramod’s bail plea; final verdict on October 9
Kottiyam: The district sessions court here has deferred the verdict on serial actress Lakshmi Pramod’s anticipatory bail plea to October 9.
The actress had filed an anticipatory bail plea before the court after facing allegations over the suicide of a woman in Kottiyam. Lakshmi and her mother-in-law Arifa Beevi had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail in the suicide case.
Meanwhile, the prosecution representing the Crime Branch, requested the court to reject the bail petitions. According to reports, the prosecution has submitted evidence against the actress and her relatives.
Earlier, the Kollam sessions court had granted interim bail to the actress. The court had ordered the investigation team not to arrest her until October 6. The Kollam District Sessions Court will pronounce the final verdict on the anticipatory bail plea on October 9.
The woman, a native of Kottiyam, committed suicide after her fiancé Harish Mohammad backtracked from his promise of marriage after molesting her. She was found hanging inside her house on September 3.
Following her suicide, police arrested Harish Mohammad. Meanwhile, the victim’s family alleged that Harish's parents, brother and sister in law Lakshmi Pramod were also involved in the crime.
