Kollam: Police officials investigating the Kottiyam suicide case informed that serial actress Lakshmi Pramod and family members of the accused, who are facing allegations over the suicide, are under surveillance.
A team of cyber police is examining the mobile phones seized from the actress and others, the probe team told mathrubhumi.com.
The probe team questioned the serial actress and family members on Wednesday. But they were not summoned for further interrogation.
Harish Mohammad, the accused in the case was remanded by the court. Hence, further actions, including evidence collection and naming more people as accused in the case, will be initiated after getting the custody of the accused, informed the probe team.
The family members of the accused, including the serial actress shifted to a new house a long time ago, said police.
The probe team is trying to take Harish Muhammad under custody soon. Later, he will be taken for evidence collection to the spots where he took the woman, who committed suicide.
Meanwhile, Harish’s family members including the actress are trying to obtain anticipatory bail as they could be booked in the case.
The woman, a native of Kottiyam, committed suicide after her fiancé Harish Mohammad backtracked from his promise of marriage after molesting her. She was found hanging inside her house last Thursday.
The accused Harish and his family backtracked from the marriage after the engagement and ‘Valayidal’ ceremony. Harish was in a relationship with the girl for more than 8 years.
After the engagement, Harish took the girl to many places and sexually abused her. It is reported that he also swindled money and gold from the girl’s family.
The actress, who is the sister-in-law of the accused, used to visit the victim’s house and take her to serial locations. The girl later got pregnant. THe girl’s family alleged that the actress and her family members produced a fake marriage certificate for the victim to abort her pregnancy.
