Kottayam girl attempts suicide after classmates threaten her with morphed pictures
Kottayam: A minor girl student attempted to commit suicide after classmates threatened her with morphed picture and demanded money. Police have registered a case against four female students in connection with the incident under Juvenile Justice Act.
The girl is under treatment at a private hospital in Pala. Her picture was morphed with a picture of a boy student in the same class in a derogatory manner. Case has been registered also against the boy.
This is the first cyber case in the state in which minor girls are accused.
The pictures were shown to the girl after the class returned from excursion. It is believed that the picture that was taken during the trip was morphed by adding the boys picture.
Police are also probing into the possibility of any other motive behind the threatening apart from money. The mobile phones believed to be used for morphing were seized.
“There is a clear change in the attitude of girls. They are not ready to compromise on love, money or sex. They try to eliminate things that hinder their way. In this incident, it is yet to be determined the real reason apart from money,” said Kala Mohan, Counselling Psychologist, REACH, Women development, Thiruvananthapuram.
