
Oyoor (Kollam): The mystery surrounding the death of Kollam native Asha (27) who died on November 4 has been unfolded. Her husband Arundas (36) of Pallimethil house in Odanavattom was arrested by police on Sunday.
The relatives of the woman had lodged complaint with senior police officials alleging mystery in the death. Following this, an autopsy was conducted which revealed that Asha was stamped on her stomach leading to death.
According to police, Arun was an alcoholic and fights were usual at home. On October 31, he came home drunk and engaged in a fight. He stamped Asha on stomach and she became unconscious. On November 1, she was taken to taluk hospital and then to district hospital. Later she was taken to a private hospital in Meeyannur, but died while under treatment.
As per the complaint filed by Asha’s family, Arun was taken in custody by Pooyappalli police and let off after questioning. At the hospital, it was said that she got injured after a goat attacked her.
The statements of 9-year-old Alban and 7-year-old Alan and Arun’s mother Elsy were recorded.
Police found discrepancies in the statements recorded and the information furnished in hospital. Also, the autopsy report confirmed murder.
