Kochi: The investigating team has recovered the pistol and bike used at the Kochi shooting incident. The key evidences in the case was recovered from the residence of Altaf situated at Azad road. Altaf, who delivered the pistol and bike to Bilal and Vipin, was nabbed on Friday.
Crime branch had nabbed Bilal and Vipin on Thursday. The weapon and bike were handed over to Altaf by the goonda gang in Kasaragod.
The kingpin of the goonda gang at Kasaragod is Monayi. He is known as Monayi among the criminal gangs, but his real name is not known yet. Police learned about Monayi and the gang in Kasaragod from Altaf. Monayi who has close association with Ravi Pujari is assumed to have fled abroad. It is learnt that he fled to Malaysia with a fake passport.
Monayi who has links with goonda gangs in Perumbavoor chose Bilal and Vipin for Ravi Pujari’s quotation. A Kollam native doctor who helped the gang to execute the shooting has also fled. Police affirmed the Kollam native’s involvement in the case, but have not added his name in the list of accused.
Interrogation of Bilal and Vipin is going on. The process of taking Altaf also into custody by crime branch is under process. The culprits were nabbed by DySP Jossy Cherian and inspector P S Shiji.
The shooting incident took place at the beauty parlour of Leena Maria Pual in Panampilly Nagar on December 15, 2018. One month before the incident, Ravi Poojari had called Leena over phone and demanded Rs 25 crores. He also threatened Leena to shoot and destroy her beauty parlour and house, if she fails to deliver the money.
