Kochi shooting: Accused were trained to use pistol
Kochi: Shooters were given training before opening fire at the beauty parlour owned by actor Leena Maria Paul, police said.
The investigating team got information that the attackers were given training in to use a pistol. It is learnt that training was provided to Vipin Varghese, one among the two who executed the crime. According to reports, they used seven bullets for the training.
The pistol was given to the criminals by Ravi Pujari. It was delivered to them by Monayi, kingpin of a goonda gang in Kasaragod.
A team from the Crime Branch had arrested Ernakulam natives Bilal and Vipin Varghese who opened fire at the parlour. The investigating team had also recovered the pistol and bike used during the incident.
The shooting took place at the beauty parlour of Leena Maria Pual in Panampilly Nagar on December 15, 2018. One month before the incident, Ravi Poojari had called Leena over phone and demanded Rs 25 crores. He also threatened Leena to open fire and destroy her beauty parlour and house, if she fails to pay the money.
