Kochi housemaid death; non-bailable offence charged against owner
Kochi: In connection with the incident where a housemaid fell down from a multi-storied apartment here, police charged a case against flat owner Imthiyas Ahammed as per non-bailable offence. IG Vijay Sakhare said the role of the accused in the crime has been confirmed.
Case for human trafficking also is booked against Imthiyas who is currently absconding. Clues about the accused has been received. He will be arrested shortly. A team has been appointed to nab him, the IG said.
Meanwhile, flat owner Imthiyas Ahammed approached Ernakulam sessions court seeking anticipatory bail. The police informed that they will strongly oppose the bail plea. The probe team made it clear that Imthiyas locked the woman for not returning the money she received as advance.
The deceased was identified as Tamil Nadu native Kumari. She had sustained severe injuries while trying to escape from the sixth floor of the apartment complex. Later, she succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.
