Karakonam murder: Arun falls in love, marries Shakha, executes murder as per plan
Vellarada (Thiruvananthapuram): After the murder of a 51-year-old woman by her 26-year-old husband here, it has come to light that Shakha and her husband Arun first met at a hospital. Shakha’s father died very early and since then she was living in her mother’s house and relative’s house in Thiruvananthapuram from childhood.
Shakha has three sisters and two brothers. Two of them had died. As sisters were married off, Shakha and her mother were left alone. They had 8-acre rubber plantation, house and other properties. The police said that Arun might have married Shakha with an intention to grab her wealth.
During the wedding reception, which took place two months ago, Arun was seen going out and roaming around in a car, a neighbour said. The neighbour also added that Shakha had given Rs 10 lakh to Arun for wedding expenses.
The home nurse who treated Shakha’s mother, claimed that the couple fought frequently after marriage. Shakha, her bedridden mother and Arun were living in the house. Home nurse Rekha Suresh stated that there were regular fights between the couple. Arun was provoked when their wedding photo was released.
There were also fights over the fact that their wedding was not registered so far. Earlier, Arun had tried to electrocute Shakha pulling a wire from the electric metre. The electric wires were taken to Shakha's bedroom and Arun tried to electrocute Shakha using this. However, Shakha got scared after seeing the wires and disconnected it immediately.
Meanwhile, neighbors revealed that they saw blood stains on Shakha’s body and on the floor of her house. Shakha was taken to the hospital by her neighbors. The doctor had said that the death might have occurred hours before, they said.
