Kalabhavan Soby lied, Balabhaskar was killed in road accident, says CBI
Kochi: In the probe into the death of violinist Balabhaskar, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has failed to recover new information from the polygraph tests. Hence, the CBI has concluded that the violinist died of the injuries from the road accident.
The polygraph test results revealed that Balabhaskar’s driver Arjun and witness Kalabhavan Soby lied to the officials.
CBI had subjected four people including Arjun and Soby for the polygraph test in October. Balabhaskar’s managers Prakash Thampi and Vishnu Somasundaram were the others who underwent the test. Kalabhavan Soby had undergone the test twice while others appeared once.
Even after the polygraph test, the CBI did not obtain any fresh information over Balabhaskar’s death. All the evidence confirmed the road accident as the cause of his death, reported CBI.
In the statement to the probe officials, driver Arjun has stated that Balabhaskar was behind the wheels. But the polygraph test results revealed that he was lying. Hence, CBI concluded that Arjun was driving the car during the time of the accident.
The polygraph test was conducted in two phases. Among these, one test result reported that Soby was lying to the officials. It was also reported that he did not cooperate with the officials for the second test.
Prakash Thampi and Vishnu Somasundaram were named as accused in Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. CBI had been investigating the involvement of gold smuggling racket in Balabhaskar’s death.
