Jolly had many reasons for murders: Killed Annamma to snatch power, Roy over strained relationship
Vadakara: The investigating officials in the Koodathayi murders have not revealed the motive behind the killings.
Vadakara Rural SP K G Simon said that each of the murders had different motives.
All the matters in the house were handled by Annamma Thomas. Jolly killed her so as to snatch the power of the family, said Simon.
“Jolly had a good relationship with father-in-law Tom Thomas. Thomas had given money to Jolly after selling of assets. Later the relationship fell apart. Then Thomas was killed”.
According to police, Jolly had a strained relationship with husband Roy Thomas. Roy was killed when it became worse. Annamma’s brother Mathew was killed as he had raised suspicion on Roy’s death.
Jolly’s statements on the reasons for Sili’s and her daughter Alphine’s death have many contradictions. Both the deaths relate to food. She said that Alphine died choking on food while Sili died after drinking water. It is assumed that cyanide was mixed in the water to kill Sili.
Probing officials believe that assets play an important role in the murders. The will written by Tom Thomas is crucial. Forging the documents, Jolly had transferred the assets to her name. However, after the forging was proved, village officer reverted it back to original state.
Police are also probing the two witnesses who signed the forged document.
