Jail term for 5 accused in Ottamasserry twin murder case
Alappuzha: The Alappuzha additional sessions court pronounced the verdict in the Ottamasserry double murder case. The court pronounced jail term to the 5 accused and also slapped a fine of Rs 3 lakh. From the fine, Rs 2 lakh should be given to the family of the murdered victims. Three were acquitted by the court in the case.
The case relates to murder that happened on the coastal road in Ottamasserry where Johnson and Subin were fatally mowed down by a lorry. The murder happened on November 13, 2015. Paulson (33), his brother Salish (37), Shibu (48), Ajesh (31) and Vijesh had come in a lorry and knocked down Johnson and Subir who were travelling in a bike as the gang had a vengeance against them.
The Alappuzha additional sessions court pronounced the verdict and convicted accused 1 to 5. Bijulal, Anilkumar and Sanalkumar were acquited by the court.
The culprits had tried to escape after the murder but the lorry developed some snags and hit a few vehicles. The third accused Shibu was nabbed by the local people. The 3 who were acquitted had made arrangements for the culprits to escape.
