Indian Coffee House at Kozhikode serves food violating lockdown protocol
Kozhikode: Food was served at Indian Coffee House near Kozhikode corporation on Friday violating lockdown restrictions. Many people assembled at the hotel by noon, which also functions as the corporation canteen.
Although the authorities claimed that food was served only to the corporation workers, many people from outside were spotted eating from the hotel. Following this, police reached the spot, closed the outlet and took statements from all those who were present there.
Hotels and restaurants have the permission to carry out only parcel services during the lockdown. The Chief Minister had instructed the district Collectors to ensure that this was strictly being followed across the state. It was in this context that the Coffee House, situated in the corporation compound, was found violating the order.
Four people were seated at a table, without following the social distancing protocol. Police reached the spot based on the complaint filed by shopkeepers in the area. There are several other hotels near the Coffee House.
Kozhikode Town police said that a case will be filed against the Coffee House manager in connection with the incident.
