Illicit liquor brewers active as BEVCO remains shut; 1 held in Kozhikode
Kozhikode: As all the liquor outlets including bars, BEVCO outlets and toddy shops in the state were shut down following the 21-day lockdown, illicit liquor making is increasing in the district.
Police and Excise officials have intensified checks and raids to prevent such illegal activities.
During one such raid, police seized 200 litres of wash, 6 litres of arrack and brewing and distilling equipment from the house of Satyan (62) of Kakkoor. The police team led by Kakkoor SI Agesh arrested Satyan.
In another raid, wash and brewing and distilling equipment were seized from Muthappan Puzha under the Thiruvambadi police station limits.
Rural SP Dr. S. Sreenivas said that raids and checks will be intensified.
