Housewife attacked, robbed twice in four days in Thrissur
Matathur (Thrissur): In a disturbing incident, a housewife was attacked and robbed twice in four days.
The victim was identified Sheela (50), wife of Sudhakaran, a resident of Manguttippadam. Sheela’s gold chain was snatched on Wednesday while her gold bangle was robbed on Sunday. During the second attack, the robber had tried to take away her gold ring but in vain.
In the first incident on Wednesday, Sheela’s five sovereign gold chain was snatched by a miscreant. When Sheela opened the door at night, the miscreant tried to snatch her chain. In the tussle, the chain broke and the miscreant ran away with a small portion of the jewellery. After about an hour, the missing piece of the gold chain was found beneath a guava tree near the house, the residents said.
On that night, someone wrote number ‘2’ inside a circle on their house.
In the second incident on Sunday, Sheela was attacked when she was cleaning the premises of a pump house near her home. Sheela’s husband and son Rahul had gone to a neighbour’s home.
Rahul, who came back home, heard his mother crying and rushed to check. Rahul saw Sheela laying on the ground unconscious. There was a rectangular shaped piece of cotton dipped in chloroform, allegedly used on Sheela.
Rahul took Sheela to a nearby community health centre with the help of neighbours. Sheela regained consciousness only after three hours.
After the attack on Wednesday, the family had installed CCTV on the premises of the house. However, Sunday’s attack took place outside the CCTV’s visual range. Unclear images of the tussle between Sheela and the miscreant has been captured by the CCTV.
A police squad led by Chalakkudy DySP C. R. Santhosh came to the spot and collected evidence. A detailed probe is underway.
