Home nurse who stole gold, scooter from houses nabbed
Anthikad: Police nabbed a woman who stole gold jewellery and two-wheelers from houses after working as a home nurse. The culprit has been identified as Maheswari (41), a native of Kodumbu in Palakkad.
Police said, Maheswari steals gold and scooters from houses where she works as home nurse. At her work place she was known in different names such as Mallika, Sumathi and Sindhu.
After the robbery, she goes back to her native and uses the stolen goods lavishly. Maheswari last robbed the house of Rajiv, a retired senior manager at Canara bank, in July. She got the job through a home nursing institute based in Thrissur.
She nursed Rajiv’s parents for three months. When the situation was in her favour, Maheswari fled the house with 3.5 sovereigns of gold and a scooter. Based on a complaint filed by the house owner, Anthikad police passed information about the woman to all police stations. Following this, Palakkad South police nabbed the woman and handed over to Anthikad police.
