High ranking police officials involved in Nedumkandam custodial death case: CBI
Kochi: High ranking police officers are involved in the Nedumkandam custodial death case, said the Central Bureau of Investigation. The CBI clarified this in the request for custody of former Sub Inspector Sabu, who was arrested on Sunday.
According to the CBI report, more police officers including high ranking officials are involved in the conspiracy and manhandling of the deceased. Mathrubhumi News procured a copy of the custody request submitted in the court by CBI DySP Surendra Dhillon.
Ex-SI Sabu, the main accused in the case was arrested on Sunday. The CBI report supported the allegation that more officers were involved in the custodial death. The custody request also stated that Sabu must be questioned intensely for further investigation into the case.
After considering the request, the court granted CBI custody of Sabu till Saturday.
Sabu was arrested on Sunday after the Supreme Court dismissed the bail granted to him by the High Court. The CBI took over the Nedumkandam custodial death case three months ago following an HC directive.
There are seven accused in the case which pertains to Rajukumar, taken into custody over financial fraud, dying in custody on June 21, 2019.
