Gulf returnee woman abducted from home; gold smugglers suspected to be involved
Alappuzha: A woman who returned from Gulf was abducted by a gang of anonymous people. The incident took place at Mannar in Alappuzha on Monday at 2 in the morning. Kurattikkad native Bindu, who returned from Gulf four days ago, was abducted.
The gang trespassed into the house breaking its door and then forcefully took Bindu away from there. Mannar police booked a case in connection with the incident. Bindu was working as an accountant in a supermarket in Gulf.
The family said that a 15-member gang kidnapped Bindu. They entered through the gate and rang calling bell. About 10-15 people carrying weapons including machete were standing outside. Though the family tried to call the police, they entered into the house and took Bindu away. The family alleged that some Koduvally natives are behind the crime.
After Bindu returned from Gulf, two persons were found near the house under suspicious circumstances. The family handed over their picture to the police. In a picture, one of these persons can be seen with KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran. The relatives raised suspicion about a man named Rajesh.
Some phone calls were received at home asking if Bindu has any gold with her. As Bindu denied this, they cut the call saying it was wrong number, the relatives said. The police are examining Bindu’s phone. The police suspect gold smugglers are involved in the incident. The police have initiated detailed probe into the incient.
