Govt doctor suspended in Karunagappally over fake PG certificate
Karunagappallly: A gynaecologist at the Karungappally Taluk hospital was suspended from service for holding a fake PG certificate. The health department director suspended Dr TS Seema, junior consultant of the hospital, as part of the inquiry after finding that she possessed a fake medical PG certificate.
The health department carried out an inquiry on the qualification of the doctor as per the complaint of Padinjare Kallada Valiyapadam native Sabu.
The investigation found that no student in the name of TS Seema cleared the exam from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Maharashtra in 2010, pointed out the order.
At the same time, the university reported that Seema’s certificate carried the register number of another student who cleared the exam. Following this, the health department suspended the doctor.
TS Seema, a native of Cherthala, has been working as a gynaecologist at Karunagappally taluk hospital for 7 years.
Sabu, the complainant took his wife Sreedevi who was pregnant to the taluk hospital in 2019. On November 11, Sreedevi delivered the baby. But the baby was declared dead soon after birth.
Following this, Sabu filed a complaint with the health department alleging that the baby died of medical negligence. The incident triggered a huge protest against the lady doctor.
A post-mortem of the baby was also carried out as per Sabu’s complaint.
Later, Sabu filed an RTI with the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences enquiring about the qualification of Dr TS Seema. After obtaining the reply from the institute, it was confirmed that the doctor is not qualified for the post.
Following this, Sabu filed a complaint with the health minister and health department director.
