Girl alleges misbehaviour; POCSO case against Kannur Child Welfare Committee chairman
Kannur: A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case has been registered against the Kannur Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairman Dr. E. D. Joseph.
The case pertains to the CWC officer misbehaving with a girl who approached him to register a complaint. The Thalassery police registered the case based on the secret statement of the girl given to the Mattannur Judicial First Class Court.
The incident took place on October 21. The complaint is that while recording the statement of a 17-year-old rape survivor, the CWC chairman misbehaved with her and used lewd remarks. The Kudiyanmala police had registered the rape case in which the girl was the complainant.
The case against the CWC chairman has been registered according to sections of the Child Rights Protection Act.
Meanwhile, Dr. E. D. Joseph dismissed the complaint as baseless. The CWC chairman said that he did not misbehave with the girl and that he only recorded her statement.
