FB post helps owner get back African grey parrot after youngsters try to sell it
Ezhukone (Kollam): An attempt to sell an expensive African grey parrot was stopped by a Facebook post. The owner of the bird was able to get his pet back after a pet shop owner informed him through Facebook.
The African Grey parrot flew away from the house of Suharban in Nedumbayikkulam on April 22. The bird came out of the house and disappeared later. Following this, Suharban's friend and founder of Venu Blood Donation, Venu Kumar posted the news on his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, two young men who caught the parrot approached a pet shop near Keralapuram with the bird's photo. Though they tried to sell the bird, they ended up in an argument over the price and returned. However, the pet shop owner later found the Facebook post and informed Suharban.
As Suharban lodged a complaint, Ezhukone police summoned the youngsters and found the bird that was sold in a shop at Kadambanad for Rs 35,000. The police gave the parrot back to its owner. Suharban said that African grey parrots are able to interact with humans and are very expensive pets.
