Excise team seize country bombs instead of ganja from house of accused
Neyyatinkara: Excise sleuths who reached a house in Neyyattinkara to seize ganja got a surprise when they recovered country bombs. On information from the Marayamuttom police, the bomb squad diffused the bombs. The incident happened on Friday afternoon at Chuliyoor in Marayamuttom.
The local people informed the excise team about illegal sale of ganja in the surrounding areas of Chuliyoor. The team reached the place for inspection and were unable to nab the gang members as the 3-member team fled the spot on seeing them.
With the help of the local people, police found that the kingpin of the gang was Arunraj (24). Following this, the excise team reached the house of Arunraj and what they saw was country bombs. Four country-made bombs were kept hidden inside a cover.
The seized country bombs were taken to the Marayamuttom police station and samples were taken for inspection. They were diffused after immersing it into a bucket of water. Arunraj, who fled on seeing the police, is an accused in several cases. The gang fled the spot abandoning the bike and police recovered 20 grams of ganja from the vehicle. The excise booked a case against Arunraj for possessing ganja and the Marayamuttom police booked a case for illegally hiding country bombs under the Explosive Act. Police are on the hunt for other accomplices.
