Chungamannam: The body of a woman was found in a sack (gunny bag) under a cot inside an unoccupied house here in Palakkad district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Omana (63) of Mathur. The police have arrested three persons in this regard. The officials believe that the trio murdered Omana for her jewellery. Omana’s husband Sahadevan had died several years ago.
The trio reportedly murdered omana when she went to her to direct water from a nearby canal to her farmland around one kilometre from her residence. After murdering the women and taking her gold ornaments, the trio put the body inside a sack and kept it under the cot of the vacant house.
Omana’s body was found during a search by neighbours and locals. The trio sold Omana’s bangles and brought clothes. When they tried to sell her remaining jewellery, the shopkeepers grew suspicious and it led the police to the murder.
