DySP still absconding after Sanal Kumar’s death, Crime branch to probe case
Thiruvananthapuram: Crime Branch will probe the accident case in which a man was killed after allegedly pushed in front of a vehicle by a senior police official. Police handed over the case to Crime Branch as DySP B Hari Kumar, who was booked in the case, is still absconding from the probe team.
According to police, DySP has moved from the state after the incident. Hence, police have planned to issue a lookout notice against him.
Neyyatinkara native Sanal Kumar (32) was killed in a road accident after being pushed by DySP towards a moving car on Monday. The incident took place following a verbal spat between the two over vehicle parking.
Sanal Kumar’s family demanded a high level probe into the incident.
Earlier, Sanal Kumar’s family criticised the investigation under SP and alleged that the investigation is not in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Rural SP in his report to DGP noted flaws in the investigation under local police. Following this, the police authority handed over the case to Crime Branch.
Crime Branch will decide on the investigation officer on Thursday.
Action Council in Neyyatinkara demanded the government to give an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to Sanal Kumar’s family.
