Kochi: A huge gold haul at the Nedumbassery airport was foiled by the customs officials on Wednesday early morning. The Air Customs Intelligence seized 5 kg of gold worth Rs 2 crore from 2 Andhra natives who reached the airport from Kuwait.
The customs on a tip off found the gold concealed between dumb-balls used for exercise.
The customs informed that the arrested are being interrogated and suspect they are routine gold smugglers. A Mumbai native who also reached the Nedumbassery airport was held with 2 kg of smuggled gold. DRI officials had seized 3 kg of gold from a Malappuram native the other day.
