Kochi: Two young neighbours assaulted a nine-year-old boy and broke his leg. The boy who sustained a fracture on his left leg and injury on his thigh and back bone is under treatment at a hospital at Karuvelippadi. The boy's family consists of two women and 2 children.
After the incident, the boy was admitted to the Ernakulam general hospital and was discharged on Sunday. Due to excruciating pain, he was re-admitted at Karuvelippadi hospital.
The incident happened a fortnight back. A dispute between neighbours over spreading cloths on a clothesline led to the act of revenge. The boy, a Panayapilly native, was returning home after tuition. On his way, his neighbour Ranjith (25) and his friend Sharon (23) called the boy but he refused to listen and continued walking. Then the two men who was in a drunk state attacked the boy from behind and beat him.
They abandoned the boy on the road who later reached home bearing pain and revealed the incident to his grandmother. Though the grandmother complained of the matter to the neighbour, they scoffed off her complaint as a joke. When the pain turned severe at night, the boy was finally admitted in the hospital.
The family filed a complaint with the nearest police station on the incident.
Amidst all this, friends of the assailants threatened the family to withdraw the complaint saying ‘now only this has happened. If case is not withdrawn, we will kill’.
The victim has two young brothers who are aged six and four and both are in fear of attack. After their father abandoned them, the kids were raised by their mother along with their grandmother.
Though the accused were nabbed and remanded, the family is living in fear of attack again in future.
