Doctor arrested for shooting stray dog in Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: A case has been registered here based on a complaint that a doctor shot and killed a stray dog. The complaint was filed by People for Animals, an animal rights protection organization.
The case was registered against Dr Vishnu of Chadiyara Sasthamangalam under animal protection act. The incident took place on August 21 near Chadiyara in Poojapura. Even the injured dog was taken to a hospital in PMG, it died.
Vishnu told police that the stray dog nuisance in the region has increased uncontrollably. The dog he shot was a danger to the life of people. It used to follow his son and he had no option other than to shoot it, he said.
The air gun, used for shooting was taken into custody by Poojapura police.
Vishnu was later let off on bail.
