Director Shrikumar Menon held in financial fraud case
Alappuzha: Alappuzha South Police arrested Malayalam film director Shrikumar Menon over charges of allegedly swindling Rs 1 cr from Sreevalsam group. He was taken into custody from his residence in Palakkad on Thursday night.
As per the complaint, the ‘Odiyan’ director received Rs 1 cr from Alappuzha-based Sreevalsam group as advance for producing a movie. But he didn’t communicate with the group regarding the movie after receiving the money. Whenever Sreevalsam group contacted him, he tried to avoid them by making excuses, reads the complaint.
Amidst this, Shrikumar Menon approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. But the court rejected his plea.
Following this, Alappuzha police took him into custody and recorded his arrest.
He will be produced before the court by Friday afternoon.
