Dentist’s murder: Accused says he had invested in dental clinic but was not repaid
Thrissur: The accused who stabbed a female dentist to death has revealed that he had sought hideout at various areas in Thrissur.
Mahesh, a native of Pavaratty had stabbed Dr Sona at a dental clinic in Kuttanellur on September 29. After attacking her, he moved to a hideout in Thrissur.
While undergoing treatment, Dr Sona succumbed to her injuries on October 4. Following her death, police initiated action to nab Mahesh. The accused was taken into custody from Poonkunnam on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, it is reported that he was planning to surrender before police along with his lawyer after examining his chances of arrest.
In his statement to police, Mahesh revealed that he was staying at Kunnamkulam and Kodungallur in Thrissur after committing the crime.
Mahesh also revealed that he was a business partner of Sona. Mahesh got acquainted with Sona when she was studying BDS in Thrissur. After her divorce, Sona returned to Thrissur and started a live-in-relationship with Mahesh at a flat in Kuriachira here. Two years ago, Sona and Mahesh started the dental clinic at Kuttanellur.
In his statement given to police, Mahesh asserted that he also invested in the dental clinic. “After starting the dental clinic, Sona neither gave a share of the profit nor the amount I had invested in the business. Following this, I started to take the whole income from the clinic,” Mahesh told police.
The financial dispute between Mahesh and Sona ended up in the murder.
Earlier, Sona had filed a police complaint against Mahesh. Irked with this, Mahesh stabbed her at the dental clinic and fled the spot.
Mahesh was booked under offences including murder. Police will produce him before the court by Tuesday evening.
