Pandalam/Pathanamthitta: The remand report submitted by police has revealed that the death of Chandran Unnithan, a Sabarimala Karma Samithi activist, was a planned murder. According to the report, the culprits stoned Chandran and other Karma Samithi activists, roaring loud to kill them. Report has been submitted to Adoor court.
The attackers assembled with an intention to stone and kill the Karma Samithi activists with bricks and stones. Police filed a case against Kannan (30), a native of Kadakkad and Nikhil (Aju-22), a native of Ullanad for conspiracy and murder. Arif (19), a native of Mangaram was arrested for pelting stones at police.
All the culprits are DYFI activists and they have been imprisoned in Kottarakkara jail after producing at the court. More arrests in this case will follow, said R Jose, Adoor DySP.
Thousands rally for funeral
Funeral of Chandran Unnithan was conducted at his house premises in Kurambala. Sabarimala Karma Samithi activists and relatives brought the mortal remains of Chandran from Thiruvalla Pushpagiri hospital to Pandalam. It was then brought to his house accompanied by a mourning procession. Thousands including women participated in the procession and final rites.
