Cyber police warn public to keep away from fake online shopping sites
Thiruvananthapuram:The cyber police have warned the public regarding the fraudulent shopping websites. The public has been alerted to stay vigilant about the websites which offer huge discounts for products.
'Don’t fall prey to offers and shop from any site. Only make shopping from trustworthy websites. Or else you will be cheated,' warn the cyber police.
Most of the frauds operate the fake website promising cash on delivery facility. The customers only open the parcel after making the payment and the delivery executive leaves their place. When the parcel is opened, only scrap items can be seen inside. Only then the customers realize that they were cheated.
The courier service executives only have the responsibility of delivering parcel to the addressees. They are not responsible for the fake product. The people behind the scam find the distributors via online. They will clear the payments to the courier service for each parcel.
The customers who get cheated by the website will hand over the parcel to the agency. If the customers are influential people, the courier agency will refund the amount. But they often dismiss the complaints from common people. It is reported that many people have been cheated by such fake websites.
Popular online shopping sites have hired trustworthy parcel agencies for their delivery. They also alert the customers that they should not receive any parcel if it found open. Such websites also allow the customers track the order from the date of placing the order.

Retired DGP Sreelekha also was conned by a fake website. Many cyber security experts have reported this particular website as a fake one. Popular cybersecurity web E-cyber planet also alerted that transactions through this website are not safe. This website has not displayed any owner information, address or phone number to contact. Documents of registration were also found fake.
