Customs declines police help to find Swapna Suresh; seized gold kept in locker

The seized gold has to be further examined and subjected to tests. The purity, weight and amount of the gold will be recorded by recognized agencies.

Kochi: The customs will not seek the help of Kerala Police to find absconding Swapna Suresh, the key conspirator in gold smuggling case. Earlier, there were reports that the Customs officials will seek help of the police. However, the Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive) stated that this is not necessary and the police need not be involved in the case.

Gold kept in locker

The gold which was seized while being smuggled through the airport has been kept in the locker of Customs. They have clarified the amount of the seized gold while producing the accused in front of the magistrate.

The seized gold has to be further examined and subjected to tests. The purity, weight and amount of the gold will be recorded by recognized agencies. It is learnt that these procedures will take place in the coming days.
