Covid +ve thief who escaped from isolation ward in Thodupuzha nabbed by police
Thodupuzha: The police nabbed the Covid positive thief who escaped from the isolation ward of the district hospital the other day. The police team nabbed him on Sunday afternoon. Later, the accused was made to wear PPE kit and was shifted to Covid centre.
The police took the 17-year-old accused into custody in the wee hours of Saturday for a theft charge and found him to be Covid positive in the antigen test. He was shifted to the isolation ward of Thodupuzha district hospital. The police managed to find him by Sunday afternoon.
As there was no police protection, the accused escaped from the isolation ward hoodwinking the authorities on the same day. Though the police had launched a massive search in the nearby areas, the accused could not be traced.
The 17-year-old had stolen 11 mobile phones and accessories from a mobile shop near the Thodupuzha Town Hall and landed in front of the police patrol team. His accomplice fled the place on seeing the police.
