Court pronounces death sentence for Mavelikkara double murder case accused
Alappuzha: Pallarimangalam native Sudheesh, the convict in Mavelikkara double murder case, has been sentenced to death. The verdict was pronounced by Principal Sessions Court judge A Badaruddin. The prosecution had asked for a death sentence to Sudheesh, citing that it was the rarest of rare cases.
Sudheesh was convicted of the murder of Biju (42) and Wife Sasikala (35) on 2018 April 23. Sudheesh, who was their neighbor, murdered them after hitting them repeatedly with an iron rod. The murder took place right in front of the couple’s 10- year- old son, Appu. Upon seeing the murder, Appu ran to the neighbors and informed them about the incident.
Sasikala died on the spot and Biju died on the way to the hospital. Biju told his brother that it was Sudheesh who attacked them, while in the ambulance.
Sudheesh's behavior towards Sasikala was indecent on numerous occasions. Not willing to tolerate it any longer, Saikala told Biju about this. Biju confronted Sudheesh and warned him against it. This led to the tension between both the parties and resulted in the murders.
Sasikala had 21 injury marks on her body and Biju had 20. The prosecution presented 33 witnesses in the case including Appu.
