Couple, kin found dead in Salem; 4 arrested from Palakkad
Chennai: Police on Monday arrested four persons from Palakkad who are suspected to be involved in the murder of three persons at Salem in Tamil Nadu.
The four, who had come to Kerala via train from Salem, were arrested from the Palakkad railway station. They will be handed over to the TN police soon.
On Sunday night, three natives of Agra in Uttar Pradesh were found dead at their house at Thirumalagiri in Salem. The deceased were identified as Akash (23), his wife Vandana Kumari (21) and Akash’s nephew Sani Kumar (18). All were employees of a silver jewellery manufacturing company in Thirumalagiri.
On Sunday night, neighbours went to check on Akash’s family after hearing his 10-month-old child crying and found the three lying dead. They immediately alerted the Salem steel plant police officials who came to the spot.
The neighbours told police that four Agra natives, who were recently employed at the silver jewellery manufacturing unit, were staying at Akash’s house. However, the four were missing since the murder.
The police zoomed in on the quartet and collected CCTV footage from the city. All four were captured by the CCTVs at Salem railway station. The visuals also helped police understand that the quartet had boarded a train to Kerala.
The Salem police alerted the Palakkad police, who caught the quartet from the railway station. A special team of Salem police are on their way to Kerala to take the quartet into custody.
The motive behind the murder is not clear yet and more details could only be found after intensely questioning the four, police said.
